XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS — How Self-Healing Works
The Elastomeric Topcoat
XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS has a proprietary elastomeric polymer topcoat — a flexible, memory-retaining layer that sits above the film's base. When a scratch or swirl mark penetrates this layer, the polymer's molecular structure is disrupted but not broken.
Heat Triggers the Repair
Apply heat — from direct sunlight, warm water, or a heat gun — and the elastomeric topcoat flows back to its original flat state. The scratch literally disappears. This works for light scratches, swirl marks, and minor scuffs.
Optically Clear for Years
Cheaper films yellow and haze over time as UV breaks down the adhesive and film layers. XPEL's formula is engineered to stay optically clear — no yellowing, no hazing, no orange peel. That's why they back it with a 10-year warranty.
Common Questions
How long does PPF installation take?
A partial front package typically takes 1 day. A full front end takes 1–2 days. Full vehicle wraps take 3–5 days depending on the vehicle.
Can PPF be applied over existing paint correction?
Yes — and we recommend it. Paint correction removes swirls and scratches before the film goes on, so you're sealing in a perfect surface. We offer paint correction as an add-on.
Will the film be visible on my car?
XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS is optically clear and virtually invisible. Edges are tucked or wrapped to minimize seam visibility. XPEL STEALTH changes the finish to satin matte intentionally.
Can PPF be combined with ceramic coating?
Absolutely — and it's the best combination available. PPF protects against physical damage; ceramic coating goes on top and adds hydrophobic properties and gloss. We offer both.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
XPEL's manufacturer warranty covers yellowing, staining, cracking, peeling, and delamination for 10 years. It's transferable to a new owner if you sell the vehicle.
